I love the idea of a holiday book advent calendar, I love the idea of a holiday book advent calendar, but who wants to wrap 24 books?! I found this $3 canvas gift sack in the @targetsdollarspot and am popping a book from our holiday collection in it each day. Some books we already own and some are new this year. It may not be numbered like a traditional advent, but it’s a fun way to add a little extra magic to the season. As a kid, I LOVED when my mom got out the box of seasonal books each December and I’m happy to start this tradition early! If you didn’t start an advent on December 1, start today, tomorrow, or next week. Do it for as much or as little of December as you want. Have fun & happy reading!

In search of an easy slow cooker dinner perfect fo In search of an easy slow cooker dinner perfect for October? Try Slow Cooker Pumpkin BBQ Chicken. 
Basically: chicken breasts, sliced onions, pumpkin purée, your fave bbq sauce, and a few pantry spices in the slow cooker. Shred the chicken after cooking. Serve it up over mashed taters or turn it into bbq chicken sandwiches.

Basically: pour apple cider and champagne into glasses in your preferred ratio. Garnish with a cinnamon sugar rim & apple slices. Don’t drink alcohol? Use seltzer! (Bonus points if you can get your hands on @drinkspindrift spiced apple cider, which I have not yet located!!)

I’m a SAHWFH mama by choice. My days are a const I’m a SAHWFH mama by choice. My days are a constant and rapid blur of balancing work, time together, setting up engaging age appropriate toddler activities, house work, trying to keep up with friends, moving my body, cooking, running errands, and oh yeah finding motivation to wash my hair. 🤪 It’s all made a little more crazy the week after daylight savings. Ifykyk!
I’ve lost my cool more than once this week. I’m always asking how can I do it all? How can I do it faster and better and find time to care for myself so I can consistently show up for the VIPs in my life?
I don’t have the answers, but slowing down and savoring little joys helps an awful lot when that overwhelm starts to creep up. Sunshine, feet in the grass, picnic lunches, new books, getting out of the house for a trip to the library or zoo, a chocolate cookie as big as your head, and after dinner walks with the fam - that’s the stuff this season is made of.

They may not be red and pink valentines, but these They may not be red and pink valentines, but these Banana Cherry Chocolate Chunk Cookies are chewy, fruity, chocolate-y, and nutty. The perfect cookie attributes, in my book. A dear college friend delivered a huge package of these after our little guy was born - talk about feeling the LOVE!  She was also kind enough to share the recipe, which originally calls for raisins or dried cranberries (also delish). Make ‘em:

INGREDIENTS
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (I always reach for Kerry gold)
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 very ripe bananas, mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
Pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup dried cherries, roughly chopped
1/2 cup chopped pecans

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. 
2. Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add egg, banana, and vanilla.
3. Whisk together flour, salt, and cinnamon in  a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients to wet and mix till combined.
4. Fold in oats, chocolate chips, cherries, and pecans.
5. Use tablespoon scoop to drop cookies on baking sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes or until
bottom of cookies is lightly golden brown. Transfer to cooking racks.
